Watch what you say…

By Travis N.E.More

I’m on the train; I’m on the phone…
I’m leaving everyone alone…
I’m saying things out loud…
That may accidentally arouse the crowd…
I get a guy come to me, aggressive in his way…
On the train he looks to me says watch what you say…
I’m in a queue; I’m sending a text…
Just waiting to be served next…
A text makes me angrily beat my chest…
I see a woman look my way, closely to my west…
I turn and call her out; I say I’m having a bad day…
With her expression I can tell I better watch what I say…
I’m at a funeral, I’m checking the time…
I shake my head the grief blows my mind…
I want to leave; I carefully exit the service…
A family member sees me move; notices I’m nervous…
I tell them I can’t do this, I can’t get up there and pray…
They tell me it’s okay; just watch what you say…
So from this day on, as I go about my day,
I think in my mind, the words I’m about to say…
Whether it’s a text, talking out loud or simply just to pray…
Wherever I am, wherever I go and stay…
I’m cautious in my vocab in every single way…
I've learnt from the past to watch what I say…
